St. Nicholas' Church (Niguliste) in Tallinn is one of the most impressive monuments of medieval sacred architecture in Estonia. Originally built at the end of the 13th century by German merchants, it was later reconstructed into a grand Gothic basilica. The church suffered severe damage during World War II, but was restored at the end of the 20th century and transformed into a museum of sacred art – the Niguliste Museum. Visitors can admire the famous Danse Macabre fragment painted by Bernt Notke, 15th-century altarpieces, bronze candelabras, relics, and sacred sculptures. The church also hosts concerts and is renowned for its excellent acoustics.
