The Dominican Monastery, founded in 1246, is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Tallinn. Hidden behind deep gates, visitors enter a quiet courtyard leading to former monastic rooms where friars once lived and studied. Inside, numerous medieval carved stones are on display. A highlight is the “Claustrum” gallery – once used by monks, today it hosts contemporary art exhibitions that change every two months. The monastery has preserved its authentic medieval atmosphere, offering visitors a journey into Tallinn’s past. Private guided tours and events can also be booked outside regular hours, making it a unique place where history and modern art meet.
