On July 19, 1988, a monument was unveiled in the courtyard of Mažeikiai Central Hospital to honor the famous surgeon and the initiator of the Mažeikiai Hospital's construction, Vladas Burba. He and his family arrived in Mažeikiai in 1923, where he worked for 42 years. In 1938, thanks to his efforts, a modern hospital was built, featuring 70 rooms, an operating room, central heating, an electric elevator, and plumbing. The initiative to build the monument came from Dr. Stefanija Žilinskaitė, and the sculpture was created by Klaudijus Stepanovas. This monument symbolizes respect for the medical community, whose dedication brings benefits to the city and its people.
