The sculpture "Into the World of Knowledge" is the first large-scale artwork in Mažeikiai, erected in 1983 near Merkelis Račkauskas Gymnasium. It was created by the renowned sculptor Romanas Kazlauskas (1937–2021), who carved the more than two-meter-high stone from the fields of Žemaitija in just two months. The artwork symbolizes the importance of education and knowledge, and its location near the oldest gymnasium in Mažeikiai, founded in 1919, further reinforces this meaning. The sculpture has become an integral part of the city's cultural heritage, attracting both locals and visitors alike.
