The "Bird", a unique decorative sculpture, was erected in the old town of Mažeikiai in 1983. Carved from polished gray granite, it initially resembles a smooth egg, but upon closer inspection, a beak of pink granite and webbed bird’s feet can be seen.
The sculpture was created by Zigmondas Raicevičius (1951–2018) during the Seda Symposium. He hoped that a bird would "take flight" from the granite but deliberately left it in a minimalist form. "Bird" has become an important part of Mažeikiai's cultural heritage, symbolizing art and freedom.
