In the courtyard of the Vytautas Klova Music School in Mažeikiai stands a memorial stone dedicated to commemorate the anniversaries of the Children's Music School. The school was founded in 1955, and to mark its 25th anniversary, under the initiative of the principal, Ričardas Grušas, a nearly 2-meter-high boulder from Žemalė village was erected in 1980. The stone is engraved with an inscription and a quote from Algis Šimkus. Over time, the cast iron plaque disappeared, but in 2015, to mark the 60th anniversary, a new granite plaque was installed, with the inscription carved by sculptor Zenonas Steponavičius. This place symbolizes the importance of Mažeikiai’s music traditions and invites people to remember the famous composers of the region.
