The St. Matthew the Apostle and Evangelist Church in Rokiškis is one of the most prominent examples of Neo-Gothic architecture in Lithuania. Renowned not only for its grandeur but also for its rich treasury, the church boasts a collection of approximately 150 movable treasures. This collection began thanks to Count Reinold Tyzenhauz, who encouraged his guests to contribute to the church’s adornment instead of bringing him gifts.
These treasures are not just material objects but cultural and historical artifacts. Many of them have been displayed in the Lithuanian Art Museum’s exhibition Christianity in Lithuanian Art and are listed as protected cultural heritage by the state. Today, visitors can admire this unique legacy in the museum established in the church's noble gallery, reflecting the spirit and heritage of the Tyzenhauz family.
We invite you to visit and experience the grandeur of history!
