In 1931, a monument created by the sculptor Robertas Antinis Sr. was erected in Rokiškis Independence Square to commemorate Lithuania's independence. During the Soviet era, the square underwent changes—its spaces were attempted to be obscured with rapidly growing trees and bushes, aiming to hide the panoramas of the church and manor house. This tactic indirectly contributed to the preservation of the monument, as it remained untouched and became an important historical object. Today, the Independence Monument is an integral part of Rokiškis town, attracting both local residents and tourists looking for unique cultural and historical sites.
