The Obeliai History Museum, established in 1998 as a branch of the Rokiškis Regional Museum, is dedicated to commemorating Lithuania's freedom struggles and fostering national identity. The museum houses over 11,000 exhibits that document the struggles of the partisan movement, the history of the Lithuanian military, the realities of deportation, and the heritage of the Obeliai region. The museum was founded by teacher and former partisan Andrius Dručkus, whose personal collection formed the foundation of the museum.
Educational programs introduce visitors to the lives of partisans and deportees. Students can explore authentic replicas of a bunker and a deportee's barrack, experience the living conditions of that era, and try practical activities such as lighting a fire or writing a letter on birch bark. This unique site not only tells the story of Lithuania's history but also invites visitors to connect with the past through hands-on experiences.
