Padovinio Hillfort has been known for a long time. It is said that ancient weapons and treasures were hidden here, and at night, two glowing lights emerge from the hillfort and wander through the meadow. In 1908, the hillfort was mentioned by priest and historian Jonas
Totoraitis, and in 1935, the State Archaeological Commission gathered more information about it and instructed landowner Juozas Grinius to protect it. In 1972, Padovinio Hillfort was declared a national archaeological monument. In 1997, the hillfort and its settlement were included in the Lithuanian Cultural Heritage Register as a cultural heritage complex. By a resolution of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania No. 612 in 1998, it was declared a cultural monument, and in 2005, it was recognized as a state-protected monument. The hillfort and settlement date back to the 1st millennium BC – early 2nd millennium AD.
