The Marijampolė Region and President Kazys Grinius Museum is one of the oldest and most significant attractions in Suvalkija, established in 1933. Housed in a 19th-century architectural complex that once served as a courthouse, the museum invites visitors to explore the history and culture of the region.
The museum features exhibitions such as "The Spirit of the Nation" and "The City by the Šešupė River," which reveal the lifestyle of the Suvalkija people and the history of the Marijampolė region. Unique
exhibits include a 3,000-year-old skeleton known as the "Turlojiškės Man," one of the largest burial urns in Lithuania, a large 19th-century book of Marijampolė District Court records, and a small chapel dedicated to the 1863 uprising. The museum also houses numerous numismatic, domestic, literary, and textile artifacts that offer insights into the region’s past.
The museum hosts exhibitions, cultural events, and educational programs, and visitors can purchase museum catalogs and other publications.
