The Jakovas Bunka Charity and Support Foundation, known for its creativity and dedication to remembrance, presents an exceptional project in the Žemaitija National Park – a Jewish ethnographic homestead and the Litvak Memorial Garden. This garden features a collection of metal apple trees, symbolizing the destroyed Jewish communities. Annually attracting about 150,000 visitors, this site includes elements such as metal apple trees created by folk artist Artūras Platakis and columns of Karelia granite, honoring world-renowned Litvaks. This location has become an impressive memorial, blending history, art, and culture.
The significance of the Litvak Memorial Garden is strongly emphasized, as it connects to both Lithuanian and global history, culture, and artistic creation. The project aims to commemorate the history and culture of the Lithuanian Jewish community and encourages reflection on the importance of diversity, memory, and community.
