The Užventis Local History Museum was established in 1965. Since 1973, the museum has been housed in the restored barn of the Užventis Manor. This manor is famous for being the residence of the writer Marija Pečkauskaitė-Šatrijos Ragana from 1887 to 1898. These were the best years of the writer's life, where she found inspiration for her most valuable works, such as "In the Old Manor" and "Viktutė." Later, this manor, which has survived to this day, belonged to Jonas Smilgevičius (1870–1942), a signatory of the Act of Independence of Lithuania. The museum exhibits information about these famous people and provides materials on the history of Užventis town. In 2012, the museum building was restored, and the exhibitions were updated. The museum offers educational programs such as "Make Your Own Soap," "Mint a Litas," and "A Boat Sailing on the Venta River."
