Rising on Toompea Hill, Pikk Hermann is one of the most famous historical landmarks in Estonia. Built in the 14th century and later raised to 45.6 meters, this defensive tower has 10 interior floors and an observation platform reached by 215 steps. At 95 meters above sea level, the Estonian tricolor is hoisted every day to the sound of the national anthem – an important national tradition. It was here in 1989 that the Estonian flag once again flew after the Soviet occupation. Standing beside the Estonian Parliament, Pikk Hermann invites visitors to connect with the nation’s history and enjoy panoramic views of Tallinn.
