Naglio Hill is a mystical 15-meter-high dune on the Baltic Sea coast near Palanga, famous for its legends and history. According to folklore, the hill is the burial site of the giant Naglis, and the stream flowing nearby originated from the tears of his wife, Brukšva. The hill, also known as the Dutch Hat, was a landmark for sailors, and local residents considered it a special place.
Archaeological research suggests that in the 15th–16th centuries, Naglio Hill may have been a sacred site, and pagan rituals took place here even after the abandonment of Birutė Hill. The hill was also a burial site – unbaptized infants, drowning victims, and those who died violently were buried here. This dune stands out not only for its history but also for its extraordinary natural aura, attracting both tourists and curious visitors.
