The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Palanga is an impressive Neo-Gothic structure built between 1897 and 1907 according to the design of architect Karl Eduard Strandmann. The magnificent brick church was financed by Count Feliksas Tiškevičius, who replaced the old wooden structure.
Inside, visitors are captivated by marble altars imported from France, a 17th-century depiction of the Virgin Mary, and preserved altars from the old church. The tower houses a 21.4-meter-high observation deck with telescopes, offering a panoramic view of the city and the sea, as well as an opportunity to explore the clock mechanism.
The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is held on August 15, followed by the Feast of St. Roch, attracting both worshippers and tourists.
