The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Palanga is an impressive Neo-Gothic structure built between 1897 and 1907 according to the design of architect Karl Eduard Strandmann. The magnificent brick church was financed by Count Feliksas Tiškevičius, who replaced the old wooden structure.

Inside, visitors are captivated by marble altars imported from France, a 17th-century depiction of the Virgin Mary, and preserved altars from the old church. The tower houses a 21.4-meter-high observation deck with telescopes, offering a panoramic view of the city and the sea, as well as an opportunity to explore the clock mechanism.

The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is held on August 15, followed by the Feast of St. Roch, attracting both worshippers and tourists.

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Palanga is a Neo-Gothic masterpiece that captivates not only with its grandeur but also with the artistic beauty hidden within. Built over a century ago according to the design of Swedish architect Karl Eduard Strandmann, the church replaced the old wooden prayer house structure in 1907. The construction was financed by Count Feliksas Tiškevičius, and today it serves not only as a place of worship but also as a historical symbol of Palanga. Inside, visitors are welcomed by marble altars, with materials imported from France, as well as a 17th-century painting of the Virgin
Mary. In the side aisles, one can see the preserved wooden altars of the old church, integrated into the new structure. The impressive church tower can be explored from the inside – at a height of 21.4 meters, an observation deck offers a stunning view of the Palanga panorama and the Baltic Sea. On the way up, visitors can see the clock mechanism and learn about its operation. Monocular telescopes in the bell tower further enrich the experience. The annual Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is held here on August 15, followed shortly after by the Feast of St. Roch, bringing together both locals and visitors.
