Plynoji Raised Bog is a unique natural spot in the Tauragė district, in the Tyrelis Forest, within the Pagramančiai Regional Park. This 357-hectare raised bog formed in the postglacial period, where the pre-glacial lakes once existed. The central part of the bog is raised 60 meters above sea level, with a peat layer reaching 3–4 meters. The bog features hummocks and hollows, where water accumulates, with height differences of 0.3–0.6 meters. Plynoji is known for its unique vegetation: at the edges, you can find common reeds, bog sedge, rushes, bog rosemary, bog cotton, common milkwort, and in the center,
cranberry, Magellanic cottongrass, round-leaved and long-leaved sundews, black crowberry, bog bilberry, and sphagnum moss, which is listed in the Red Book. The trees primarily include low-growing pines and dwarf birches. The bog is home to capercaillies, predatory woodpeckers, field sparrows, cranes, and among mammals, moose. Three rivers, Alanga, Krančia, and Vynija, originate from the bog. For visitors' convenience, the Plynoji educational trail was updated in 2019 and stretches for 1.6 kilometers. It is an ideal location for those wanting to immerse themselves in the authentic nature of Lithuania’s bogs.
