Katyčiai Market Square, located near the church and at the crossroads of several roads, began to be paved with stones in 1906. Once adorned with brick buildings ranging from one to three stories high, the square was a vibrant center of trade and social life. However, after the war, the destruction of homesteads and neglect during the Soviet era led to the decline of most of these structures. During the years of independence, abandoned three-story buildings were demolished. It wasn’t until 2005 that Katyčiai’s historic center was included in the Lithuanian Cultural Heritage Register, although its value was not detailed.
