The Sauseriai Hillfort, also known as Pilale or Urbašiaus Pilale, is located in a spectacular spot – in the valley of the confluence of the Minija River and an unnamed stream, 2.7 km southeast of the confluence of the Minija and Salanto rivers. The hillfort, situated on the edge of a high ridge, dates back to the 1st millennium and was in use until the early 2nd millennium, when the battles with the Teutonic Knights began.
To the northeast of the hillfort, traces of a forehill and settlement at the foot of the hill have been discovered. This place not only recalls ancient Curonian settlements but also invites travelers to enjoy the harmony of nature and history, with stunning views from the elevated site.
