The Niurkoniai Manor Chapel, built in 1828, is an architectural and historical gem dedicated to commemorating the contributions of General Lieutenant Tomas Vavžeckis, leader of the 1794 uprising against Tsarist Russia, to Lithuanian history. Serving as the commander of the Samogitian division and later appointed as the leader of the uprising after Tadeusz Kościuszko's arrest, T. Vavžeckis is memorialized in this late Classicism style chapel, funded by his brother, Juozapas Vavžeckis, the manager of Niurkoniai Manor. The chapel, renowned as one of the most beautiful buildings of its era in Lithuania, is also the only one dedicated to the memory of the 1794 uprising. The chapel's crypts are the resting place of local nobility, and the nearby legend-filled Niurkoniai Manor pillar further enriches the history of this site. Although the chapel remains unrestored, the St. Aloysius feast is traditionally held here in June, attracting believers from the surrounding areas.
