The history of Pasvalys is closely intertwined with the railways, which for a century were a crucial element of the region's transport and economy. In the mid-20th century, railway lines became a somber witness to the deportation of Pasvalys residents to exile. To honor the victims of these deportations, a memorial park was established in Pasvalys, featuring a composition by sculptor Valius Remeika. This composition serves as a poignant reminder of those harsh times and the suffering endured by many. This memorial site is significant not only as a reminder of past events but also as a lesson for future generations on the importance of history and maintaining humanity in the most challenging times.
