Commemorative Plaque

In Voveraičiai Village, within the Aukštkalviai Forest (Kartenos Forestry, Block 139), a commemorative plaque honors the last members of the Širvydas Squad of the Kardo Unit in the Žemaičiai District, Augustinas Kiesa and Juozas Zobernis. They perished on January 10, 1950, in a bunker that served as their final hideout.

The plaque was installed in 2005 with funding from Juozas Zobernis. This site symbolizes the fight for Lithuania's freedom and invites visitors to learn about the history of the partisans and pay tribute to their memory.
