The Utena Regional Museum, established in 1929, is a cornerstone of the city's history, housed in a late 19th-century building. Known as Antanas Namikas's "miracle," the Utena Regional Museum is one of Lithuania's oldest institutions of its kind. The museum occupies a historically significant building tied to both the city and the region. In the late 19th century, the building was owned by the Lifshitz and Goldfein families, who were forced to flee Utena during World War I. In 1918, it served as the first Utena municipality, and later, following the Bolshevik occupation of the city after Christmas of the same year, the building housed a revolutionary committee. The museum is dedicated to preserving not
only the city's but also the Utena region's culture and traditions. Its vast collection reflects the area's history and heritage. Through modern technologies, visitors can interactively experience both the historical and contemporary facets of Utena. The museum's branches—such as the Museum of Freedom Fights and the Traditional Crafts Center “Svirnas” in Utena, the Vytautas Valiušis Ceramics Museum and Art Center in Leliūnai, and the A. and M. Miškiniai Literary-Ethnographic Homestead in Juknėnai—offer insights into a variety of cultural and historical themes.
