In the spring of 2020, Utena began to flourish with symbols of happiness, inviting visitors to explore this wonderful city. One of these symbols is the "Tile of Happiness." This tile, featuring a blacksmith-forged horseshoe and the inscription "Capital of Happiness," symbolizes the dreams and hopes of the people of Utena. When read from the other side, the inscription reads "Happiness Capital," further emphasizing Utena's reputation as a place of joy and happiness.
This unique tile is located in Utenio Square, a symbolic site where a bustling market once thrived before the Soviet era, filled with the sounds of wagon wheels and horseshoes clattering. The creator of the happiness symbol, talented artist Vytautas Šemelis, has contributed to Utena’s cultural heritage, adding a special spirit and uniqueness to the city.
Visit Utena and discover this wonderful symbol of happiness, which will undoubtedly enrich your journey through the region.
