At the end of 1918, volunteers rallied to fight for Lithuania's freedom, including soldiers from the 2nd Infantry Regiment, whose names have been preserved in history: Jonas Adomaitis, Antanas Andrejūnas, Vincas Balsys, Petras Davainis, Motiejus (Matas) Gudaitis, Pranas Kalvaitis, Antanas Mašinauskas, Viktoras Rudzevičius, Jonas Savickas, Antanas Sinickas (Lieutenant, Cross of Vytis 5th degree knight), Vincas Vencius (3rd degree Cross of Vytis knight), and Jurgis Vitkauskas. It is also known that Honelis Kriceris, a 3rd degree Cross of Vytis knight, is buried in this village. These heroes are remembered as symbols of the Lithuanian independence struggles, significant both historically and for regional tourism, inviting interest in the heritage of the freedom fights.
