In the village of Notėnai, on the left bank of the Notė River, stands the wooden Church of St. Catherine the Martyr. This twin-towered, cross-shaped church is distinguished by its unique stone wall enclosure. Its history dates back to 1789 when a church was built in place of a chapel. In 1906, it was expanded, a tower was added, and in 1929 it became a parish church. Long-serving priest Stanislovas Vaitelis not only restored its exterior but also became an integral part of the parish. In early autumn, locals gather for the "Apple Festival" and observe the original gates, once adorned with sculptures. A cross near the church commemorates women's prayers for soldiers.

Set on the scenic bank of the Notė River in Notėnai village, St. Catherine the Martyr's Church is one of the notable sacred sites in the Skuodas region. This wooden, cross-shaped church with two towers began construction in 1789 when the elder of Gintališkė donated a land plot in place of the old chapel. The stone wall enclosure adds authenticity to the surroundings. In 1906, the church was expanded, a tower was built, and decayed wooden parts were replaced. In 1929, it was granted parish status, and under the efforts of long-serving priest Stanislovas Vaitelis, it was renovated—repainted, and
the roof was reinforced. The special atmosphere of St. Catherine’s Church is enhanced by the original gates, once decorated with sculptures before World War II and later fitted with paintings in the niches. A low metal cross near the church, erected by the parish women, remembers their prayers for husbands and sons who went to the war front. Each September, locals gather for the traditional "Apple Festival," symbolizing community spirit and spiritual heritage. St. Catherine’s Church in Notėnai is a valuable cultural heritage site, increasingly attracting visitors from various regions.
