Gaidkalnis is a historic hill in Mockaičiai village, Skuodas district, designated as a state-protected cultural heritage site (unique code 25460). This hill, 120 meters long and 80 meters wide, is covered with deciduous trees and shrubs. Nearby, about 100 meters to the northeast, stands Mockaičiai Stone—also known as Pikčius Boulder (unique code 3960), also protected by the state. Legend has it that the Devil was carrying this stone, but when a rooster crowed from the hill, he had to leave it. This is why the area was named Gaidkalnis ("Rooster Hill")—it is said that even when people walked by this hill, they often heard a rooster crowing.
