Location of the Battles and Deaths of Lithuanian Partisans Antanas Radzevičius-Vyturys and Antanas Valenta-Tigras

On October 19, 1946, tragic battles took place at the Miliukevičius farmstead against the NKVD, resulting in the deaths of partisans from the Dainava District's Šarūnas Battalion, Mindaugas group. Among them were Antanas Radzevičius-Vyturys, born in 1920 in Kalvelių village, and Antanas Valenta-Tigras, born in 1912 in Smarliūnai village, both located in present-day Lazdijai district. After the battle, the bodies of these brave fighters were desecrated in Veisiejai. This farmstead and its surroundings are significant for those wishing to learn more about the partisan struggles and Lithuanian history, attracting history enthusiasts and tourists eager to honor our nation’s heroes.
