On January 28, 1950, significant battles took place in Paliepio village against MGB soldiers from the Kapčiamestis subunit, led by Chief Bobkov. In this fight, partisans from the Dainava district's Šarūnas battalion, affiliated with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania’s Vytenis battalion, were killed. Among those involved were Juozas Braslauskas-Miškas, born in 1915 in Pertakas village, now in Lazdijai district; platoon leader Antanas Dabušinskas-Žvejas, born in 1918 in Snaigyno village, also in Lazdijai district; and a partisan known by the alias Vakaras. Jonas Jakimonis-Trimitas and Leonardas Mališka-Saulius managed to escape. This location holds significant historical value, attracting tourists and allowing them to learn about the struggles and history of the Lithuanian partisans.
