This impressive linden tree, standing at 26 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 4.05 meters at 1.3 meters height, is a protected natural monument. It was recognized as a natural monument in 1960 and declared a state-protected botanical heritage site by the Minister of Environment in 1999. According to local stories, the family of Vincas Kriugiškis used to set up as many as 10 stump beehives near this linden tree to collect honey when it bloomed. This tradition continues to this day.
