The bright chapel, located on the shore of Lake Dauniškis, has become one of the main symbols of the city of Utena. This chapel was designed by architects A. Kuras and A. Remeikis. It was built on Mount Calvary, funded and cared for by A. Žemaitis, in honor of his brother, partisan J. Žemaitis-Maumedis, and their mother's memory. The foundation stone of the chapel was laid in 1992, and partisans who died in the battles for Lithuania's freedom are buried around it. Wooden, decorated crosses were erected in their memory. Nearby, there are also graves of soldiers who died during World War II, which, like the burial sites of the partisans, are included in the Register of Cultural Heritage.
