Vytautas the Great Park, the oldest park in the city of Marijampolė, is a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. This historical space, once popular among elegantly dressed gentlemen and ladies, now combines pre-war spirit with modern enhancements. Adorned with flower beds that reflect the cultural heritage of Sūduva, a modern fountain, and a children's playground, the park invites visitors to come and enjoy all its amenities.
The park was named after Vytautas the Great in honor of the anniversary of the Grand Duke and has become an important social center. It
hosted various events—concerts, plays, lectures—and was known as a beacon of democracy, where conflicts between different groups were rare. Vytautas the Great Park was beloved by both locals and emigrants, who remember it as one of the most beautiful parks in the world.
Today, the park offers an interactive exhibition titled "The History of the City Garden," which can be explored using augmented reality. During this tour, with the help of a smartphone and a special app, visitors can see what the park looked like 150 years ago and learn more about its history.
