In Prienai, on Vytauto Street near house number 25, a commemorative plaque has been installed to mark the location where the Jewish prayer house, or synagogue, operated from 1903 to 1941. Historical sources indicate that by the mid-20th century, Prienai had two synagogues: a wooden one built in the 18th century and a later brick synagogue. During the Soviet era, the wooden synagogue was demolished by Soviet authorities. The surviving brick synagogue, located at Vytauto St. 25, was built in 1903 and served as a prayer house until 1944, when the building was repurposed as a Soviet military unit. In 1956, the building was handed over to the Construction Organization, later renovated, and adapted for residential use. This commemorative plaque was donated by the Jakovo Bunkos Charitable and Support Foundation, with its installation arranged by the Prienai District Municipality.
