Vaiguva Church has been mentioned since 1719, and the parish was established in 1776. In 1803-1804, a new, twin-towered church dedicated to St. John the Baptist was built with a belfry on pillars. The construction was supported by Bishop Steponas Jonas Giedraitis of Samogitia. The original belfry, built by folk craftsman M. Butvila, has survived to this day.
The church features folk architectural forms, with a rectangular plan and a small tower. It has 3 altars. The churchyard is enclosed by a stone masonry fence. Within it stand a wooden belfry and a chapel post. The churchyard gates are of three arches, with openwork walls between the pillars.
