The water mill was built at the end of the 19th century. The Kražantė dam was rebuilt 17 years ago, with a pedestrian bridge and path installed. The water level was raised by about 3 meters, but during average and lower water levels, migratory fish could not overcome this height and access the river basin. Therefore, in 2014, a fish ladder was installed at the Kelmė dam to assist migrating fish. The Kražantė River reservoir covers an area of 5 hectares.
