The Valley of Death stretches between the Parnidis and Gliders Dunes. In this area, a French prisoner-of-war camp was established from 1870 to 1872. Due to poor detention conditions, exhaustion, and diseases, many prisoners died. They were buried in the camp cemetery located here, which is why the valley was given this name.
