The Synagogue Square Memorial commemorates the lives of many generations of Jews in Jurbarkas and the tragic fate of the community. It reflects the once beautiful wooden Jurbarkas synagogue, the surnames and professions of Jews who lived in Jurbarkas, and the Jurbarkas residents who saved Jews during the war. The monument incorporates five symbols: the Nemunas River, the Hebrew alphabet, the community, the holy city of Jerusalem, and the house of prayer—the Jurbarkas synagogue, which was one of the most beautiful in Europe.
The memorial was created by the Zundelovič family, who have roots in Jurbarkas and now live in Israel: sculptor Dovid Zundelovič, architect Anna Zundelovič, and art director Grigory Zundelovič.
