Shrouded in legends about a giant, the founder of Jurbarkas, buried in the hill, the Bišpilis hillfort stands on the northern edge of the town, on the left bank of the Imsrė stream. It is believed that the wooden Kolainiai Castle once stood on this hillfort. In the late 13th century to early 14th century, it was part of the Panemunių (Nemunas) defense system and was burned down by the Crusaders in 1291.
