Nearby, in the gravel pits of Kaišiadorėliai village, the remains of nine partisans who died on March 3, 1947, in a homestead between Kalviai and Vilūnai, were buried. The remains of these partisans were discovered on October 6, 1990, and reburied in the new cemetery. Later, the idea emerged to erect a monument at this site for all partisans born, living, fighting, and dying
in Kaišiadorys district. The chapel's construction began in 1993, designed by Kaišiadorys architect Stasys Petrauskas. The sculptures were created by Audronė Skarbaliūtė from Pravieniškės, and the stained glass windows by Professor Kazys Morkūnas, originally from Žiežmariai. On August 23, 1998, the chapel was consecrated by former political prisoner, Chancellor of Kaišiadorys Diocese, Prelate Jonas Jonys. The names of 358 partisans are inscribed on black granite plaques mounted on the chapel walls.
