In 2007, a monument dedicated to Cardinal V. Sladkevičius was erected in the courtyard of Kaišiadorys Cathedral, symbolizing a long, painful, yet faith-filled journey. The monument was created by sculptor Arūnas Sakalauskas and architect R. Krištapavičius. According to Monsignor Jurevičius, this sculpture impresses people with its realism and the grandeur emanating from the small figure. Archbishop V. Sladkevičius served as vicar and parish priest in various locations: Kietaviškės, Merkinė, Aukštadvaris, Kuktiškės, and Šešuoliai. In 1952, he became the prefect and spiritual father of the Interdiocesan Seminary of Kaunas.
