The House of the Blackheads, located on Pikk Street in Tallinn’s Old Town, is an impressive Renaissance-style building famous for its ornate façade. It is decorated with rich ornaments, lion heads, and coats of arms of various Hanseatic cities, reflecting the brotherhood’s trade connections. The building dates back to the 16th century, when the Brotherhood of Blackheads – merchants and shipowners – settled here. Later reconstruction stages added Renaissance grandeur and Baroque elements to the residence. Inside, historical halls have been preserved – the impressive White Hall and Gothic-style rooms, which today host concerts, events, and celebrations. It is one of the most striking architectural monuments in Tallinn’s Old Town, combining the city’s trading history with artistic tradition.
