May Park in Cēsis is a historical and natural oasis established in the 19th century, during the era when romantic castle ruins dominated park fashion. The park was first shaped by Kaspars Veidenbaums, the grandfather of the famous Latvian poet. A highlight is the sculpture “Struggle with a Centaur” by Kārlis Jansons and a beautiful pond, home since 2005 to black swans – currently named Katrīna and Grāfs. These graceful birds symbolize the town’s peace, trust, and hospitality. The park is also a favorite among families, featuring a modern children’s playground, outdoor table tennis, and zones for cycling and skateboarding. It’s an ideal spot for both active leisure and quiet nature moments in the city center.
