Lithuanian Ballad is a sculpture by Vladas Vildžiūnas, unveiled in 1973 to commemorate the 650th anniversary of Vilnius and celebrate the city’s history. Located in the Cathedral Square park, the sculpture consists of three bearded elders' busts made of dolomite, arranged in a circle.
The sculpture’s interpretation has sparked various theories: some believe it symbolizes the three great Lithuanian rulers—Mindaugas, Gediminas, and Vytautas—while others see it as representing a plowman, a soldier, and a poet, key figures in Lithuanian history. The piece has often been surrounded by legends, and Vildžiūnas’ works, inspired by Lithuanian folk art, frequently depict rural people, singers, and musicians. This sculpture reflects Lithuanian themes and is not connected to political interpretations.
