The European Park features over 100 sculptures created by artists from 32 different countries. Among them are renowned contemporary art creators such as Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz, American artist and art theorist Sol LeWitt, and American sculptor and photographer Dennis Oppenheim. One of the most impressive exhibits in the European Park is the "LNK Infomedis" sculpture, constructed from old televisions. This sculpture has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest of its kind in the world. The scale of the sculptures in the park varies greatly, from small, ground-level pieces to structures reaching up to ten meters in height. The total weight of the open-air museum's exhibits is about 1000 tons, using materials such as stone, wood, and concrete. European Park hosts various cultural events, including "Spring of Poetry" readings, artist meetings, and conferences. For visitors' convenience, approximately 7 kilometers of pathways have been laid out in the park, and mountain bikes are available for rent to explore the entire area.
In 2008, the European Park Museum was recognized as a state-important cultural project. A Brief History of European Park The European Park, covering 55 hectares, was established in 1991 in the village of Joneikiškės, slightly north of the northern boundary of the Vilnius City Municipality, on the right bank of the Neris River. The park is located 19 km from the center of Vilnius. The French National Geographic Institute determined that the geographical center of Europe is near Vilnius. Based on this fact, Lithuanian artist and public figure Gintaras Karosas created the European Center Monument. He marked the names and distances of European and some other world capitals on granite slabs, indicating their distance from the continent's center. For example, Paris is 1705 km away from the center, Lisbon is 3129 km away, and the furthest distance marked is to Wellington, New Zealand, at 17310 km. Visit the European Park to immerse yourself in the world of contemporary art, culture, and history, and enjoy the impressive artworks and beautiful nature.
