The Monument to Adam Mickiewicz is one of the most visited sculptures in Vilnius, located between the Church of St. Francis of Assisi (Bernardine) and the Church of St. Michael, on Maironio Street in the Old Town. The monument was erected in 1984 and symbolizes the important poet whose life and works are inextricably linked to the history of Lithuania.
The composition of the monument consists of a 4.5-meter-high granite sculpture depicting Adam Mickiewicz standing, leaning against a column that represents his life in Lithuania and his exile. The column is divided into two parts, reflecting his connection to both Lithuanian and Polish cultures. Below the sculpture is a blue plaque with a QR code, allowing visitors to learn more about the history of this monument and the "speaking" function of the sculpture.
