The Cathedral of the Most Holy Mother of God in Vilnius is a significant religious and historical heritage site located in the Old Town. This Orthodox cathedral, whose construction began in 1346, is one of the oldest Christian sanctuaries in the city. Throughout its long history, it has undergone numerous reconstructions and stylistic transformations, serving various purposes, including as a religious site, a temporary university auditorium, a barracks, and storage facilities.
Today, the cathedral functions as an active center of Orthodox faith under the leadership of Metropolitan Innokenty of the Vilnius and Lithuania Archdiocese. Its architecture, reflecting styles from Gothic to Baroque, attracts both the faithful and cultural heritage researchers.
