The construction of the Vyžiai Evangelical Lutheran Church began in 1865, designed in a Gothic-Romanesque architectural style. The church was rectangular in plan, single-towered, and featured a pentagonal apse. Inside, trapezoidal wooden ceilings adorned the sanctuary, while the altar was surrounded by spacious pews. In 1883, a 16-register organ was installed, and two bronze bells were placed in the 36-meter-high tower. During the war, the church was damaged and later repurposed as a grain storage facility. In 1993, it was returned to the Lutheran community, restored, beautified, and once again used for pastoral work.

The church’s construction, initiated in 1865, followed a Gothic-Romanesque design. Its distinctive rectangular layout, single tower, and pentagonal apse reflected classic Gothic architectural features. Inside, the trapezoidal wooden ceilings and the spacious pews surrounding the altar lent the sanctuary a unique aesthetic character. In 1883, the church was equipped with a resonant 16-register organ, and two bronze bells were placed in the 36-meter tower. Unfortunately, the church sustained damage during the war and was subsequently used as a grain warehouse. Following Lithuania’s independence, the church was returned to the Lutheran community in 1993, where it underwent significant restoration and was reinstated to its original purpose as a place of worship and pastoral care. Today, the Vyžiai Evangelical Lutheran Church actively serves its congregation and remains a vital religious and cultural landmark in the region.
