The Saugai Mill, built in 1908 as an auxiliary station for the Vilkyčiai Mill, is an important historical landmark. The equipment for its construction was brought from Germany, and its mechanisms were initially powered by a steam engine, later by a diesel engine (from 1936), and eventually by electricity (from 1953). Constructed from bricks made in Šilutė, the building is notable for its durability—no cracks have appeared in its structure to this day.
Although the millstones have long ceased to grind grain, the mill still houses authentic technological equipment, including Swedish and German saws, carts, and a sawmill. The mill is a significant heritage site that preserves the history of Saugai.
