The Rimkai Old Believers Church, a red-brick structure with a tower, stands near the city of Jonava. Old Believers settled in Rimkai in the 18th century when the village was part of the Vilnius Voivodeship. At that time, Rimkai was one of the oldest Russian centers in Lithuania until 1795. The existence of an Old Believers church in Rimkai has been documented since the late 18th century.
In the 19th century, Rimkai became part of the Kaunas County. In 1806, local residents purchased their land and became free farmers, with about 300 people living in the village at the time. After the suppression of the Degutiai parish in the 19th century, Rimkai became the center of the Old Believers community in the Kaunas Governorate.
